A.M. Cassandre Chapbook
TASK: The objective of this project was to design a minimum of 2000 word text chapbook using a selected typographer or graphic designer. With the design of the chapbook, it must reflect the style of the typographic era or statement. Lastly, this project involved crafting an actual size mock-up when the whole book was complete.
One of the first things I did to approach this project was to determine what style or era I wanted my book to have. The style I chose for my chapbook was the Art Deco Era, and the graphic designer that I selected was A.M. Cassandra. I establish the proportions of my chapbook using the Bringhurst list, and I found the margins using the harmonic armature. Also, the font I chose to use throughout my whole book was Franklin Gothic. All of the text and poster images are from a book that I purchased, which is titled, The Poster Art of A.M. Cassandre by Robert K. Brown & Susan Reinhold. The cover represents the Art Deco Era, and it was printed on red card stock paper.
